Van Gogh at the Van Gogh Museum
One of the most famous painters in the world is Vincent van Gogh. He’s known for his beautiful and extraordinary paintings. The sunflowers are very famous. But also his start night is known by a lot of people. The museum which is dedicated to Van Gogh has a lot of vistors per day. On a yearly base 2,3 million people visit the museum!

But did you know he made a lot of self portraits? You can see him at the Van Gogh museum! He’s made a few self portraits and these are shown at the museum. He’s created them in different stages of his live. In his earlier years as well as when he’s a bit older. But as we all know, he didn’t get that old unfortunately. He died at the age of 37 by commiting suicide. The bullet didn’t hit his heart immediately and he died a few days later while suffering from pain. He suffered quite a lot in his live and probably would’ve never guessed he would be among the famous people a few hunderd years later!
Rembrandt van Rijn
There’s one other among the famous people who’s also a painter. And that is Rembrandt. Rembrandt van Rijn is known for the still lives he painted, but also his nice techniques with dark and light. He knew how to paint the tones of the world on the canvas. He was different than other from his period and back then he already was quite famous. Did you know he painted a lot of self portraits? You can take a look at him at the Rijksmuseum in the center of the city, near the Vondelpark. The Rijksmuseum has a big collection of his work. Visit this place if you want to see the nightwatch. And yes, also in this painting you can find a self portrait of him. He is definetely one of few famous people on a painting!
