Time-Saving Tips and Tricks for your Amsterdam Trip.

Tips and Tricks: You know what they say about all work and no play? As a business traveller in Amsterdam, you might be stuck in a constant loop of meetings and business dinners, but never fear. With this handy guide of time saving tips and tricks, you can see some of Amsterdam’s many wonderful sights and seal that business deal too. A centrally-located cultural hub, Amsterdam attracts visitors from all over the world, and is ever-increasing in popularity as a city-break destination. However, if you want to beat the crowds and save yourself a whole lot of wasted time, here’s what to do:

Skip the queues at the Anne Frank House

Tips and TricksIf this is your first trip to Amsterdam, then a visit to the Anne Frank House at Prinsengracht 263-26 is on the cards. The problem? The queues for the Anne Frank House are notoriously long. At certain times of the year, tourists can queue for over two hours to gain entrance to one of Amsterdam’s most famous tourist attractions. However, as with every problem, there is a solution. As with a lot of things in life, preparation is key. Once you know the dates of your trip to Amsterdam, you can book a ticket for the Anne Frank House with a time slot between 9 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. This will enable you to gain entry to this tourist hot spot before those without tickets arrive. If you haven’t booked a ticket in advance, then avoid the queues by making a night-time visit to the house. It remains open until 10 p.m.

Rent a bike

Public transport in Amsterdam can be a little erratic at the best of times. Instead of wasting time waiting for the next bus to arrive, adopt the methods of the locals, and see the city on a bike. You can rent a bike from multiple locations in Amsterdam – the Yellow Bike Rental at Central Station is a popular choice – and once you learn the rules of biking, you’ll be riding along those famous canals with a light breeze ruffling your hair in no time.

Eat early or make dinner reservations

With sixteen Michelin-rated restaurants to choose from, Amsterdam provides a wealth of dining options to impress your business clients. It should be noted, though, that Amsterdam is not one of those cities where you can stop by a fancy restaurant by chance and expect to be seated straight away. As with its museums and places of interest, eating out in Amsterdam often means a whole lot of time spent waiting. In order to avoid the queues, it is essential that you book ahead, or eat early.

Stay Central

With numerous tourist accommodations on offer, you won’t have a problem finding a place to stay in Amsterdam. However, as the city increases in popularity, so too do the prices of its hotels, and more often than not, you might find yourself staying in an inconvenient, non-central location. An alternative option is to stay in a centrally located hostel. Affordable, comfortable and convenient, the Amsterdam Hostel Uptown, which is right in the city centre, is a great place from which to explore the wonderful city of Amsterdam.
